We are going to drive half way across the U.S.

We've got a new little addition coming to the Heslin's unfortunately she will be coming to Oklahoma not Florida. So... we will drive out to see her come in. We decided to hug the gulf coast the whole way to avoid the possibility of bad weather. And we will be in New Orleans just in time for Mardi Gras. So the plan is to stop over and check it out. We rented a great car for road trips and got a pretty good deal from budget rental. Hope it get's good gas mileage with the price of gas going up up.

The Art Festival in Mt. Dora

It's that time of year again. And this year the art festival was as good as ever. We go every year and make a day of it and the fact that it corresponds with the super bowl is just a bonus. We like to get there early so we can find a good spot to park right on the street. And then we leave by noon for a fancy feast for lunch and then it's ready for some foot balllllll...... It's the perfect Florida day. Fancy and snooty in the day and then let it all hang out by night.
Some times finding a place to park is hard.
The hike back to the car is always worse than the hike to the festival because... I guess we are parking at the top of the mountain. Ha! So the walk back is always up hill. So we usually drive around a bit to get a close spot.

Here we are three blocks away.

We enjoy the scenery. Mt. Dora has a lot of really cute old houses. And it's hilly so you get peeks of Lake Dora here and there. And it also has some beautiful architecture. And old houses which we love to look at.

We arrived early so the crowds weren't bad yet.

Artist from all over the country come to this quaint little town for the festival.

This guys stuff was all about the jazz.

Giant wooden acorn.

There was some fun stuff like this.

This owl was cute.

Love the water colors.

I love the really strange stuff like this.
Stranger still

There was a lot of valentine things and love stuff. This one covered it all.

Crowd started picking up shortly after we got there.

I don't know why a shop in Florida would have a stuffed polar bear but I figured it was strange enough to take a picture.

This was a really cute shop and check out the awesome house in the back ground.

Cool clock.

Look we are art!
Some of the glass and metal sculptures were enormous and beautiful.

Hearts were every where. These said please touch.

Getting really crowded.

There were various strange musical instruments every here and there so the sound of the fair was filled with live music.

Loved this guys flute music.

Listen for yourself. Just click the video.

.
This is a giant plate made out of tiles.
This one is for my big giraffe. It is all glass.

I really enjoy the glass and metal art.

This guys stuff looked like scrimshaw but it was paint on a glaze and then fired. I really liked this.
This was just a really cool large painting.

Behind her is not a photo although it looks like it.

We saw this banner in front of this little boutique and new it was time to be going.

After a day of art nothing is better than coming home and having snooty fancy foods.
Plate of  Cucumber sandwiches and Tubule wraps.

Better than the sandwiches are the fancy deserts. And yes that is the rum cake on that plate.

After all the fancy food bring on the foot ball and the real munchies.
