Last of the travel blog.

We made it to the Mississippi river. It's so large and grand you can't help but to awe over it every time you cross it. And of course spell Mississippi the whole way across. Miss crooked letter....etc. And once again we were shocked at how great the rest area/ visitor center was. This one had cannons lined up as if to protect the city still. Of course they were left from the civil war. So we wondered around and checked everything out.

Mississippi

Bridge and a train going across.

View down river. You can see some of the cannons.

Car and train bridge
Goofing around. How'd you like to get robbed by that gun.

Graffiti from 1833 Or a makers mark considering it wasn't used until 1863.

Looking up stream you can see a river boat that is actually a building used as a casino.

And the sign explaining what was all the hub bub. If they had held out just a little longer the south might not have lost the war.
Finally we made it back to the sunshine state in the dark. It's good to be home!
