First day of hurricane season! 6-1-11

We need rain. It's so dri. Everyone's grass is brown except where their septic tank is. You know if yours is working by the green grass.

Well, I thought I would get everyone started getting ready for the season, even thought we are looking forward to some good squalls to dump some rain on us. Hopefully we wont get anything too bad. Usually here in central Florida the storm peters out before it gets to us and all we get is downed trees and power lines. Bad enough, but nothing like the wind they get on the coast.

First thing to do:
is get you one of these handy dandy hurricane plotting maps/guide things. I don't know what good it is. But I guess you have to have one if a hurricane is coming so you know which way it goes or is going. I don't know. Maybe there is a drinking game I'm unaware of. Any way you can find these things everywhere. News papers, grocery stores, banks and they give them away free, so don't go spending any money on one. Mine came from Publix. Thank you Publix!

Some times they have useful info like what kind of provisions to stock pile, and the names of the hurricanes for this year are usually listed on it some where. Guess that's so you know what the name of the next storm is going to be in case that's the one that blows your house away.Or maybe that's where the drinking game comes in. I usually write emergency numbers on it. You know Mom, work, the police, fema, ect.

Anyway there is a load of useful information on these things that you will undoubtedly ignore until the hurricane is barring down on you. In which case the news will tell you that you should have done all this stuff months ago and now there are long lines at the grocery stores, hardware stores, and gas stations. And your going to be standing in them. While your there, standing in line with all your neighbors, you will say "Oh well, What will be will be. There's nothing I can do. I'm in God's hands." And that's when it also occurs to you to make a trip to one more store, the liquor store!

That's all my hurricane tips for today stay tuned for more. If I ever get to the store to buy those provisions that it says I must have in my guide/map thing.

Gardening In the sand.

I had gave up on the broccoli but then one popped up. :)

I think this is a yellow tomato variety.

Reese's loves to help water the garden in the morning.

Yep, mostly we've got tomatoes.

One big yellow squash.

Ok we have two.

I think this is a zucchini. Or another cucumber.

This is a zucchini for sure our cucumbers look like round balls.

Ok three yellow squash.

And here is the round ball cucumber the size of a golf ball.

This got picked and ate already. Mmm... Pepper.
These are good bells
This was a different kind of bell pepper but we ate it too.

I've got a bumper crop of banana peppers. We are going to make a stuffing with them.

Hope you enjoyed looking at my sad little garden. I'm planning a fall garden now.

Relaxing four day weekend. Not!

Started out with my tankless hot water tank dieing. We ended up having to call an electrician so I could cash in on the 10 year warranty, but he couldn't really do anything because the hot water tank people were out until Tuesday. Called them today, Tuesday, and told them what the electrician had said to say and they were like he has to talk to us he has to check it while our technician talks to him over the phone. To protect us. Like I'm going to try and scam them out of some hot water tank parts or something.

Then we had had a bad storm that knocked the electricity out and messed up the computer. It went to safe mode, then when I finally got it out of that, it was saying anything with a lock next to it had a certificate that was out of date and it blocked them. Finally after spending most of the day trying to fix it. Sunday, I read that it was the server being out of sink. But... I couldn't call them till Tuesday cause they were out from the holiday too. It fixed on it's own on Tuesday so... I didn't have to call about that.

Memorial Day was a lot of fun. We crashed my Aunt's pool and had a little bar-b-Que with her. Lot of fun.
Aunt's pool
Turns out my Aunt makes the best bar-b-Que sauce ever. But she wont share that darn recipe for nothin'. Dang it! It was good on everything too.
Shisha bobs. Lot's of veggies plus, pork, beef and chicken.
Well, tomorrow is the last day of my holiday and I'm going to the dentist. Yuck! I hope they can replace the temporary crown with a permanent one with out breaking it like they did the temporary one.Or I'll be looking for yet another dentist. And then when I'm done with that... I'll be waiting for an electrician to come over and tell those people to send me a new tank!!!!!!!

White moth.

This white moth flew in when I let Reese's out in the morning. It was really pretty so I took pictures.

Don't you just want to pet it's fuzzy little head.
